Video/Television/Radio Production

These are the most obvious options when it comes to looking at everything that you may be able to do with broadcasting in some capacity. You may be overseeing what things are happening or what sort of content may be going on the airwaves. But, it will take time to get to this point and you may have to try some lower end production jobs (hosting, etc) before you can get to the higher end of this field.

Public Relations

Public relations is a field that people have heard of, but many people don’t understand what exactly public relations entails. In short, public relations is how a broadcasting company (or really, any organization) interacts with the public. Whether it’s related to public opinion, concerns about what is going on behind the scenes, or anything in between.

Content Manager

Do you enjoy writing web copy or taking care of social media sites? If you’re looking for a career where you can do those sorts of things, then you definitely want to look into a content manager job. Most of the best radio stations now have content managers on their teams, working with their public relations coordinator in order to keep people informed and to keep internet content as updated as it can be. It will take some effort to do this job, but with the right training, it could be a great fit.

Sound Production/Mixing

Sound work is very different than video production. You need to understand how a sound board works and what it is that you may be looking for in regards to inconsistencies in sound and how you may want to try and take care of things. This takes practice and you’ll definitely need some solid training in order to be sure that you can do what is necessary here.

Broadcasting is a big wide space and, as you look at what you may be able to do and how you want to make things happen, you will often find that there are a number of methods that you can utilize in order to move forward in your career.
